About

01 about the lab

Creative Storytelling Lab is a two-week intensive designed for high school students who want to develop a compelling original story and turn it into a portfolio-ready project.

The lab is modeled on a film school–style curriculum, combining storytelling development with hands-on production. Students move through a structured creative process, from idea generation and narrative development to directing, filming, and editing a completed short film.

While the medium is film, the focus extends beyond filmmaking. Students build core skills in storytelling, communication, and creative thinking, while producing a meaningful project they can use for portfolios, applications, and future opportunities. The lab culminates in a Student Film Showcase for peers and parents.

Directing | Screenwriting

Iesh Thapar

Iesh Thapar is a UK-born writer-director and educator working across film, television, and video games. He holds an MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University School of the Arts and has taught screenwriting and narrative at the university level.

His work has screened at international festivals including the BFI London Film Festival, Palm Springs ShortFest, and Aspen ShortFest, and has been supported by leading institutes such as Sundance, Film Independent, and BAFTA.

Iesh has also directed performance for major video game titles including Hitman 2, The Division 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion. In addition, he has worked as a lead writer on a AAA title for Ubisoft, shaping narrative and character across large-scale productions.

His screenwriting work extends into television, where he has written and consulted on projects for studios including Gaumont and Participant Media.

His teaching focuses on helping students develop their creative voice through storytelling, directing, and hands-on production.

Producing | Screenwriting

Sarah Oh

Sarah Seulki Oh is an award-winning film producer and educator working across both the film industry and academia. She holds an MFA in Creative Producing from Columbia University School of the Arts and has served as an Assistant Professor of filmmaking at the University of Texas at Austin, Columbia University, and Sogang University.

Her work has been officially selected at major international film festivals including SXSW and the BFI London Film Festival, and has received support from leading organizations such as the Sundance Institute, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Tribeca Film Institute, ESPN, Film London, and BFI Network. She has also worked on projects with global platforms and studios including Netflix, HBO, and Amazon.

With over 12 years of industry experience and more than 6 years of university-level teaching, she has built a strong body of work across both narrative and documentary filmmaking, and has led international co-productions across Europe, Asia, and the United States.

Her teaching is grounded in a structured, hands-on approach that guides students through the entire creative process from concept to completion. She emphasizes collaboration, critical feedback, and the development of each student’s unique creative voice.
